Beach Rescue

It has been a while since I blogged, not because I haven't had time ( I have had plenty of that) but simply because lack of excitment in my relaxing life here in Florida. I was talking to my sister yesterday about my lack of blogging and she said "How do you not have anything to blog about? You go to the beach everyday!" I didnt think blogging about us just sitting at the beach would be interesting, however we has some excitment at the beach yesterday so I decided to blog about it. It is one of those stories that you will probably think "I bet you had to be there"

My friend Marissa is here visiting so a small group of us girls decided to go to Hollywood Beach for the day. After making a dolphin sand sculpture, seashell collecting with Londyn and getting knocked over by waves we were getting ready to start cleaning up when the excitment happened. We heard the life guard whistle from his tower and immediatly everyone looks to where or who he is whistling at. Then we heard the life guard from the tower on the other side (we were in the middle of two towers) whistle. We noticed right away who they were whistling at, there was a guy swimming too far away from shore and they were trying to get his attention to come back closer. He kept swimming further out and they just kept whistling. He got far enough out there you could see the panic of some onlookers and both lifeguards. One lifeguard got his life saving device (you know the red thing they carry) and the other got on his walkie talkie. In the meantime the swimmer just kept swimming further out to sea! We were watching (as well as everyone in that area of the beach) and getting nervous when there was no sign of a waverunner. Then the beach captain came on a four-wheeler..."how is a four-wheeler going to save him"! He made and attempt at the whistle but by this time you could barely see the swimmer. Of course during all of this we are making up scenarios for why this guy would be swimming so far out (shark territory). Finally the rescue truck comes...thats right I said truck, you ask "how is a truck going to save him"? Well, the truck isnt and we were asking the same question but he did bring a giant surfboard. One of the life guards paddled his way out to save the swimmer! When the life guard reached him there was a sigh of relief on the beach! The swimmer was fine... he was not tired or worried he was just going for a swim (idiot!).

Well it was quite a fun day at the beach and we were glad everything ended the way it did! Londyn loves being at the beach but has yet to play with the sand toys I bought her a month ago. she would rather read the magazine we are reading or lay in, roll in and eat the sand. She loves being outside and loves the water! We think of everyone at home while relaxing on the beach!

Same thing happened to my dad in Hawaii. Swimming too far too fast. Usually the swimmers aren't able to make it back because of the current. Thank goodness for lifeguards right? You better keep us informed as to what's going on out there. Such as: my hubby made enough to buy a Ferrari today!
