I have been so busy...

bus⋅y - [biz-ee] - adjective, bus⋅i⋅er, bus⋅i⋅est, verb, bus⋅ied, bus⋅y⋅ing.
actively and attentively engaged in work or a pastime.

Is this a good enough excuse for not blogging in a month?

ex⋅cuse - (ik-skyooz) - verb, -cused, -cus⋅ing, noun
to offer an apology for; seek to remove the blame of

Did you know that definition of excuse? Well I am hoping this is an apology for neglecting you for a month. But I have thought about it often. There are so many things to catch up on and so many activities we have done that it is too overwhelming to talk about them all and there are too many good ones to choose from so we are going to start from here, today, August 11th 10:24pm.

And my mind goes blank.....

I must be out of practice....blogging I mean, not using my brain.... Well who knows sometimes I feel like my mind is slipping, like I am drowning in my own thoughts and I cant organize them. I hope everyone feels this way at some point or another but I wonder if part (or most) of it comes with owning your own business. Or could it be having two kids now? Or the combination of the two? What does someone that owns their own business but doesnt know anything about 'business' do?

I am sure some of you have answers of what I could do (I need suggestions, please) but I will tell you what someone does when they know nothing about business.... they go crazy!!! I always thought I was an organized person but reciepts, mileage, inventory, time, fabric, orders, etc... the list goes on and thats just business stuff, add just the everyday life of family and two kids. Wow, why do having kids take away part of your brain? We need it now more than ever!

Speaking of kids... I am going to put a plug in for my cute kids. I have never seen cuter kids (sorry my kids are the cutest) and Londyn is getting to the stage of saying the funniest things. And most of the time its like "where did you come up with that?" or "How do you know that?" And Corver is starting to jabber, ALOT! I love this stage. There is my plug.

Well scattered as this blog may sound it is the way it goes for me. But I am open for any suggestions for business organization.

Here is what has been keeping me and what I spend most of my time doing...

Your pics turned out cute! I understand your situation completely. I cope by making lists. Lots and lots of lists! And I would DIE without my day planner!

Thanks for the post. I have missed your updates. Yes, kids and a business can definitely make you feel bonkers. What you need is to try to definitely separate those two things in life: family/kids and work. Don't try to do your business stuff while in mommy mode, and vice versa. It complicates things and causes stuff to fall through the cracks. Try to find distinct times for your work that are different from times when you are with the kids. Utilize family, friends, and youth in your ward/neighborhood to help get your work done by taking the kids if you need them to. Many of the young women from church are looking for service opportunities and can help with the kids for free. And then obviously be as organized as possible. Day planners, filing systems, errand running trips on certain days. Try to streamline and multitask as much as possible. And realize your limitations. Don't take on more than you know you can handle. You will go crazy. Decide your pace and capabilities in advance and work around those. And maybe get an assistant to help with stuff you don't have to do yourself and can delegate. Not a person who requires a full day's work and pay, just a friend or young person to be your extra hands when needed. And finally...get your sleep. No one does anything well when they are tired. When we first opened Stone Creek I tried to stay up all night doing work stuff and then was a complete mess as a wife and mom during the day. I thought if I just gave up on sleep, somehow I would get everything done. Well, it just made me lose my mind and feel like I was going crazy. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Good luck with your busy life. You can do it. You are amazing. Love your pictures. Especially the little ties. I need some for Jack. I will be in touch.
