Baby Update #3

Yah! My last doctors appointment was today! I kind of pictured it going a little different in my dreams. I have had more and more contractions and more pain so I thought for sure I would go in and she would say "I think we need to take the baby today, he is ready" and I had it all planned out what we would do. Grey would run home and grab my bag (I would have to tell him where the last few things were to pack) and I would be getting admitted and settled in a room. I would have him call my parents and his. My mom would leave Portland but get home in time for the birth (of course it was dramatic and she came running in the room as I was getting ready to push) and we would be in a warm cozy room with our two kids while the snow came down outside ...BUT that is not how it went, Not even close, In fact what did happen was not at all one of the scnerios I had gone over in my dramatic head. As we waited for the doctor my nerves started to make me sick, the anxiety and excitement was building (remember I was sure what I had imagined was going to be true) and Grey and I are making bets on what she is going to say. Sadly even though we both had different views they both involved having the baby in the next two days. When the doctor came in and gave me the news...Not only have I not progressed AT ALL, she didnt schedule me to be induced until Saturday. What? I have to wait another week?! How could this be? I had inspiration (okay I guess it was wishful thinking) to catch up on laundry last night, finish packing and clean up a little. I think the doctor saw the shock on our faces and for just a second I thought she might be joking. She was not! So... I did not schedule anything this week because I was planning on having a baby and now I have 5 days of nothing to keep my mind off it. Now I am trying to plan things to keep me busy.
On the upside, Saturday will be a great day and here is why:
1- My mom will be in town
2- It is not Friday the 13th
3- It is closer to my real due date (22nd) which means healthy baby
4- My mother-in-law will be completely done with costumes because opening night is Thurs.
5- I get to see the show before I have the baby (Peter Pan)
6- I can get the little last min stuff ready that I would have put off.
7- It is scheduled so I can relax a little knowing the day
8- It is supposed to be better weather Saturday
9- Grey will probably only need to take Monday off
Well anyway you get the point why Saturday will be a great day to have a baby!
I am counting down the days and have a couple nights planned so hopefully the week will go by quickly. Next baby update will have new pics of our little boy! Yah, cant wait!

Babies have a mind of their own. We always think we have things figured out about when they are coming. But, they do it their own way in their own time (usually). Glad to hear that you at least have a date set and a plan in motion. Take it easy this week and just rest up for the big day. We will be thinking of you. Good luck and best wishes for a quick, no-nonsense birth and recovery. You are awesome. AH
