I know I am not alone when I say "Duncan was an angel on Earth". He blessed so many just by his presence. I could post all day about experiences I have had or have witnessed where Duncan has changed a life. I wanted to write a few memories and experiences about an angel on Earth.
Last night we were listening to conference again and (sorry I dont know who the speaker was) there was a talk about angels on Earth. As I was listening to the talk, of course Duncan was at the forefront of my mind. I woke up early this morning with the same thoughts in my head and decided now was the time to blog.
I have known Duncan for as long as I can remember although I was not close to him until I became a part of their family 3 1/2 years ago. When Grey and I were dating I was drawn to the way Grey treated and interacted with his brother. He was so gentle and loving toward him, although he did joke with him and wrestle him while Duncan smiled with his big contagious smile.
So many have told Grey he was the best brother Duncan could have ever had. I believe that but I also believe Duncan was the best brother Grey could have ever had. Grey always wanted a brother to play sports with and wrestle with but I believe Grey would not be where he is today without Duncan in his life. His testimony is so strong because of the purity of Duncan and his presence. This is a blessing for me because I cant imagine there would be anyone other than Grey for me.
Duncan has the best sense of humor. We would tease him about his arms not working or ask him why he didnt talk to us, now this sounds mean and wrong but Duncan LOVED it! He would laugh so hard and occasionally, in his way, fight back (bite back). He loved America's Funniest Home Videos and would laugh when people got hurt, ha ha ha, it makes me laugh to remember how it would light up his face to be watching and laughing with his family.
Syd and Troy are also angels on Earth. They would say "We did not do anything special, we just did what we had to and loved our son" but they dont realize how many people would give up on a "normal" life. Duncan had more of an adventurous normal life than most. He has traveled across country, hiked up the mountain, played kickball, been in several musicals, gone to several dances, been the 'flying squirrel', etc... the list goes on and on. They are great parents and Duncan had 22 years of a full exciting life. Syd and Troy are examples to many and a great example of service and charity.
Probably the hardest part for Greys parents and us, is the relationship between Duncan and Londyn will be forgotten by Londy. They had a bond that was stronger than we probably knew. she loved seing "Duncy". She would want him out of his chair so she could sit in it, she would tickle his knees, climb in his chair and want her hands in the straps and the belt done up, she would put a tissue on her neck just like him, she would dance just for Duncan. He loved every second and would let her do anything she wanted. He would get mad at us if we were telling Londyn 'no'. When she was little she would climb all over him and he would just let her. I hope Londyn will remember something about "uncle Duncy" but we will make sure she knows who he is. And I know she will now have a special guardian angel.
We will miss Duncan more and more but we know he is happy, healthy, running and talking, talking, talking. I believe he is singing with grandpa Tom and they are starting their own musical in Heaven. Although it is sad to not have Duncan here in his body, we know he is still in our lives.
I could go on and on but I will end with a few of Duncans favorite things.
*The color orange
*Londyn
*Cookies and Milk
*Family (I could list them all individually but this sums it up)
*The color orange
*Musicals
*Animal Planet
*Londyn
*Meet The Robinsons
*English muffin (not too done but a little chewy) with cinnamon and sugar
*Girl toys at McDonalds
*The color orange
*Family improv
*His pin collection
*Little kids
*Londyn
*etc.... there is so much more. He loved life, the simple things, and most of all his family.
We love you Duncan!

Duncan will be missed by everyone. He was so sweet and could make my day with one little smile. I hope you guys have an ok week, I know it is hard but the first thing I thought of when I heard the news was Duncan running and talking in Heaven too. It is funny how some tragedies can be such amazing blessings. Your family is in our prayers!
We are thinking of you guys while we are far away. And praying for you. See you soon
I'm so sorry for your loss guys. Duncan looks like such a sweet guy. We'll be thinking of you and your family. Huge hugs!
oakley and grey-
I am so sorry--my mom forgot to tell me, she has to many girls to tell. Anyway, I didn't know him very well but I know that he loved you and you loved him very much. You're in my thoughts, love you guys-
Grey,
I am so sorry for your loss. I only met him a couple of times but I do remember how you and your friends would tease and joke around with him and he loved it. But what a blessing to have such a sweet spirit in your life and to continue on forever. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
