For the third year in a row our stuff is in storage so instead of neglecting a Christmas Tree all together like we did last year we decided to get a real tree. I wanted to take Londyn and cut one down ourselves. I knew my parents would want to go with us so about 10 days ago we made the trip to the tree farm. It wasnt the way my parents used to cut a Christmas tree (snowmobile in the mountains and find the perfect Christmas tree) but it was fun. It took me all of maybe 7 minutes to pick out a tree but as for my mom, well it took a lot longer. I think Londyn had fun and she gets really excited about the "sissmass tee" I think there is an attachment because we picked it out.
After we got it home and set up we realized our decorations are also in storage. I had the greatest idea to string cranberries and popcorn then I had some paper rings I would let Londyn finger paint and hang by ribbon. Londyn and I spent a few hourse stringing (well Londyn was eating) popcorn and cranberries into a cute garland. When we ran out of cranberries I thought "no problem I will get more tomorrow" I really wanted to blog and post pics of our homemade ornament tree. Well more than a week later I decided we will just have a garland up half the tree. My mom had some left over ornaments we used (because of course I didnt ever have Londyn paint the rings). It looks a little funny but it is our Christmas tree and we LOVE it! Now if I can just keep Londyn from eating the popcorn off the garland.

Oakley,
I really like your Christmas tree. I especially like the good old-fashioned work that went into cutting it down and decorating it. The colors are beautiful - the contrast of the red cranberries and the white popcorn is so striking. Londyn looks so grown up. I cannot believe how she is blossoming into such a big girl. It is sad that we cannot see her more. Hope your holidays are enjoyable. We miss everyone. Tell all we said hello. AH
I love that picture of Londyn. Its so cute.
